Chris Draft, Founder of Asthma Team, gives the Keynote Address at the 15th Anniversary of AAFAs "Breathmobile"
LOS ANGELES--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), California Chapter and LAC+USC Medical Center will co-host a 15th Anniversary Breathmobile Celebration on Friday, June 17, 2011 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at LAC+USC Medical Center located at 1200 N. State Street, Los Angeles, CA. 90033. The USC
Trojan Marching Band will kick-off the event with a rousing performance to begin sharply at 1pm. The celebrity host for this event is Ted Chen, distinguished reporter and news anchor from KNBC Channel
4 News.
Confirmed celebrity athletes (who happen to also have asthma) include Olympic Gold Medalist Tyree Washington, NBA Star and New Orleans Hornets Power Forward Trevor Ariza, Former NFL Linebacker Chris Draft who will also serve as the Keynote Speaker.
Actress Ashley Scott, who has starred in films such as “Into the Blue,” “AI: Artificial Intelligence,” “Walking Tall,” in addition to television shows including "Dark Angel" and "Jericho", will also serve as a speaker. Yellow Dog Records recording artist, The Soul of John Black will serve as the featured music performer for this event.
The Breathmobile® is an “asthma clinic on wheels,” that provides free diagnosis, treatment, medications and education for children with asthma at their school site. The project was developed by the California Chapter of the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America to address the rising morbidity rates of asthma in high risk disadvantaged children. Evaluation studies of the Breathmobile® have demonstrated dramatic improvement for patients treated on the Breathmobile® including: fewer emergency room visits, improved pulmonary function, a decrease in school absenteeism and an improved quality of life.
Additional ceremony speakers include Councilwoman Jan Perry, LAC+USC Healthcare Network CEO, Pete Delgado, AAFA President Sharon Boucher, and Division Chief of Allergy & Immunology, USC Medical Center, Lyne Scott, MD. Breathmobile units from USC Medical Center, Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and
Children's Hospital of Orange County will all be available at the event for touring.
