I am a single parent of three boys ages 24, 19, nine, and the grandmother of a 8 month old little boy. As a child I suffered with severe asthma having to receive everything from home remedies (my mother was from the south) to hospital treatments. As time went on I from what I thought grew out of it only to find out after giving birth to my second son for it to slowly return. I went untreated from some time using over the counter meds to sharing meds from family members. After giving birth once again to my last son was when my asthma and allergies kicked into full swing.
During this time my sons Jeffrey, Brandon and Kristopher each has suffered and is suffering with asthma. Each child has been hospitalized there have been so many ER and hospital visits 2 stays in ICU and now at the age of 8 months my grandson is being treated as well. Being a single parent has its issues and struggles but to have a condition that has gone from generation to generation can be discouraging. There have been times when we have gone untreated because of cost of meds and not having insurance. In this last past year I have been hospitalized 5 times and have gone to the ER 8. I continue to not let my condition hinder me from doing anything that I desire to do. I have also installed this in my boys for I tell them that they can do aall things though Christ not to allow things like asthma stop them
I continue to tell them how blessed they are for they have accomplished so much in there lives just by being young men in today's society. It has also been my faith in God the has kept me from not giving up when so many others have. Kristopher and I have daily meds that we must take, missing a dosage is not an option. Between all of us we every stage there is when it comes to asthma. I pray daily and contiue to put Him first. For I have claimed healing for me and my family as well as those who suffer as well as we do.
