Foundation Joins St. Louis Public Schools for Blind Side Community Blitz
As part of the Chris Draft Family Foundation’s Community Improvement Initiative, four St. Louis Public High Schools received grants, sponsored by the movie The Blind Side, for use in a community improvement project in their area.
Beaumont, Roosevelt, Sumner and Vashon High Schools in St. Louis each received a $500 grant from the Chris Draft Family Foundation to participate in a community improvement project of their choosing. Chris Draft presented them with the funding for their community improvement projects, which will take place on Saturday, May 8, throughout the day.
As the St. Louis Public Schools theme is You Belong, the students will let their community know that they are a part of it through these projects, which represent the Chris Draft Family Foundation’s Community Improvement Initiative.
While Draft may no longer play football in St. Louis, projects like this are a constant reminder that the foundation will remain committed to making the St. Louis area a better place. Events taking place on Saturday include:
Roosevelt High School
Students will police and clean up the Roosevelt High School Football Field and then take the cleanup initiative into the surrounding neighborhood.
Beaumont High School
Students will visit the nursing home to assist with the beautification of a common visiting area and multipurpose room, which are utilized by all the residents and their guests.
Sumner High School
Students will participate in a cleanup initiative of Sumner High School. They will begin with the back lot and work their way through the school.
Vashon High School
Students and staff will participate in a cleanup event at Vashon High School, where they will clean a store room and organize the plaques in the school’s Hall of Fame. Also, students and staff will participate in a cleanup event of the exterior of Greater Paradise Baptist Church.
