Foundation Joins Barbara Bush Foundation for A Celebration of Reading at Sea
To showcase the importance of literacy and military appreciation to the Chris Draft Family Foundation, the foundation has partnered with the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy to take part in A Celebration of Reading at Sea.
On Saturday, May 1, Chris Draft will join several other authors aboard the USS George H. W. Bush Aircraft Carrier, where he will take part in a day of celebrating literacy and military appreciation. Draft will read excerpts from and sign copies of his children’s book, Do You Want to Play Catch? All proceeds from the sale of Do You Want to Play Catch? benefit the Chris Draft Family Foundation.
“What a great opportunity to be a part of this event and share my book,” Draft said. “Do you want to play catch was written to promote the importance of family literacy, family fitness, and strong family relationships.”
The Celebration of Reading at Sea event, set to begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday when the USS George H.W. Bush Aircraft Carrier will depart from Newport News, Va., will also feature an air show, a landing demonstration and the dedication of the on-board Doro Bush Koch Library.
The Chris Draft Family Foundation’s Literacy Leaders initiative is a network of people dedicated to “Changing lives, saving lives, one book at a time” through promoting literacy and encouraging reading. The Chris Draft Family Foundation believes that literacy and education are paramount to our country’s success, and is committed to promoting literacy for youth of all ages.
About Do You Want to Play Catch?
In his new book, Do You Want To Play Catch?, NFL linebacker Chris Draft shares his story of how the simple game of "catch" can teach valuable lessons and build relationships. The vivid, youthful illustrations and heartwarming story will inspire families to get out and 'play catch' as a way to strengthen their family bond while encouraging healthy physical activity. All proceeds from the sale of the book benefit the Chris Draft Family Foundation.
