Nicholas M. - "The Blind Side" Miami
The Blind Side impacted my life in more ways than one can imagine. To begin with, the story itself is a touching one, Michael Oher stranded on the streets went from couch to couch living with only the clothes on his back, till one day the father of one of his friends, "Big Tony", takes them to a Christian school to enroll both his son and Michael. "Big Mike" is later taken in by a wealthy white family, the Touhy's, which signaled the end of moving from couch to couch and start the happy life of having his first bed. Although he was living with the Touhy's his battle was only half won. He later completed high-school, went to college and is now the starting left tackle for the Baltimore Ravens.
His story moved me in multiple ways. One of those ways is to never give up. No matter how low life puts me, I need to keep my head up and keep moving. Luckily I have never been in a situation like that of Michael, but I know they are people out in this world that are living like that so I, like the Touhy's, need to help make my community a better place. I may not be able to change the world but if I can have such a great impact in someone's life like that of the Touhy's on Michael Oher's life then I have achieved a goal no one can take away from me.
Another way this movie impacted me is that nothing in life is handed to you, you need to go out a work for everything. Although I'm a senior in high school and I work for everything I own, I grasped this message from the movie because of the effort and time Michael put into becoming what he is now, from being another "statistic" to go to a Division 1 College and now playing as a starter in the NFL. I still have a lot of life to live in me and this movie showed me things that everyone thinks can only happen in fairy tales. Just like Michael wrote his fairy tale I'm going to write my own.
