Shaquita W. - "The Blind Side" Buffalo, N.Y.
The recently released movie "The Blind Side" was about a young man who found a family that took care of him, and made him into someone he probably wouldn't be if he was still living in the conditions that he was in. This movie inspired me to revise my life and everything around me. I found ways to change myself, my school and my family all for the better. Simple changes may have a
great effect.
First off, this movie inspired me to change myself in multiple ways. I will stop being so mean to people, because I don't know what life is actually like for them when they get home. No one actually knows what another person is going through, unless they have actually lived it. Instead of being unhelpful, I will try to give help to anyone in need, no matter what the case is, I will try my best to help them out. Maybe, if I ever have the time, I’ll go to the shelter and volunteer and serve food to
the homeless. It wouldn't just benefit them it would help me also. Maybe I'll feel better about myself in the long term.
Second, I can help my scbool out a little. I am a school leader, but lately have been getting in trouble. Just staying out of trouble can help my school out a lot. I will be one less student that they have to worry about. Usually, I will stop giving up on work when I don’t understand it. In the movie, Michael's life was so tough and yet be didn't give up on it. He just kept on pushing until he succeeded and even after that, he kept pushing. I want to take what he did just instead of life, focus it on my schoolwork.
Finally, I can make changes that will have drastic effects on my family. My family is the type of family that is much spaced apart, except for our immediate families. There are many families like Michael's family that are broken up due to circumstances, but are family anyway. My family should learn to cherish our family instead of being so distant. If I was to talk to some adults in my family and arrange a gathering, maybe that could be the start to our family bonding. And if the first gathering goes well, maybe we can have several more gatherings. Maybe we can make it a weekly thing. After awhile, we will make it less formal, and then we can arrange to meet each other at one another's houses and then our bonds will be stronger.
"The Blind Side" inspired me to revise my life and everything around me. I found ways to change myself, my school, and my family all for the better. Simple changes may have a great effect. And with my plans in improving life it really shows what simple changes can do.
