Brenda

I'm 52 years old, a mother of 3 grown children, 26, 23, 19. I was diagnosed with stage 4 Non-small cell adenocarcinoma in September 2014. I am a non-smoker and I was a very good athlete in high school and college. Currently, I'm a track coach at Wilcox high school in Santa Clara, Ca and I love working with the kids and coaching.

Going to the game under any other circumstances would be just going to another game, but because this represents so much more it means a lot to me it's another step in my life's journey the opportunity to meet someone who knows what I am experiencing right now. I know this is as it should be I love sports, and working with kids and I believe there is a lot more for me to do in this life time. I can see clearly how everything is coming into play I'm a team player and I want to be apart of team draft I know that this is just another step in which God wants me to go and I'm ready to do that I'm glad I will get that opportunity through you and Keasha. Thanks so much for reaching out to me and for sharing the Journey you and Keisha took together and continue to do I am more then happy to be one of the faces that represents lung cancer as it is today.

In 2012, we, Team Draft, launched our inaugural Survivor at Every Stadium initiative on CNN during a nationally-televised prime time special focusing on lung cancer and our National Campaign to Change the Face of Lung Cancer.

Our Survivor at Every Stadium initiative, leverages our connections with the NFL, its teams and players and our relationships with many of the top cancer centers in the country. As part of our National Campaign, this celebration of survivorship raises lung cancer awareness, gives hope to those battling the disease, and shines a light on the important work being done at cancer research and treatment centers around the country.

Team Draft's goals are to create a unique experience for participating survivors and to raise awareness on a local, national, and international level by using each game and each survivor’s story to weave a broader narrative about the state of cancer and the hope that now exists for those battling the disease.

We kicked off our 2nd Lung Cancer Survivors Super Bowl Challenge on December 2nd, 2015. The Challenge builds off the success of our established Survivor Series by using the games at the heart of that initiative to create buzz for supporting our lung cancer survivors.
