• Team Draft's Tackling Cancer Camp with the Chicago Bears Chicago, IL. Metro Chicago Cancer survivors and caregivers joined Team Draft and the Chicago Bears on Saturday, October 26rd. The survivors and their caregivers participated in a “tackling cancer” football clinic and discussion at HALAS Hall, the Chicago Bears Training Facility. Our goals are to create a unique experience for participating survivors and caregivers, to spark discussion and the sharing of information between those battling different types of cancer, and to raise awareness on a local and national level about the importance of having a solid cancer care TEAM for all cancers.<more>

• Survivor at Every Stadium: Washington Redskins Washington, DC. CTCA lung cancer survivor-advocate, and DC native, Montessa Lee represented Team Draft at FedEx Field on Sunday. Montessa watched the Redskins take on the San Francisco 49ers, with Team Draft co-founder Chris Draft and other Redkins Alumni. Montessa Lee is an author of He Whispered Life, advocate and educator. She holds a Master's degree in Special Education from Johns Hopkins University. Montessa is an active member in her church and participates in various lung cancer advocacy opportunities.<more>

• Happy Anniversary Team Draft! (Atlanta, GA) – Chris Draft faced some tough opponents during his 12 years in the NFL, but nothing could have prepared him for the news he and then girlfriend, Keasha, received when Keasha, a never-smoker, was diagnosed with lung cancer. Despite the diagnosis and knowing the long odds they faced, Chris and Keasha decided to fight back, and seven years ago today, on November 27, 2011, standing hand-in-hand, they launched Team Draft at their wedding. Keasha died a month later. <more>

The Arensdorfs choose to use their funds raised, during our 2018 Super Bowl Challenge, to support the Lung Cancer Colorado Fund. Matt was one of the top fund-raisers in our 2018 Lung Cancer Survivors Super Bowl Challenge and earned a trip to the Taste of the NFL and Super Bowl 52 in Minnesota. <more>
• Rest in Peace Elizabeth Dessureault Dessureault was pregnant and working as a teacher in Fort McMurray, Alta., when she was diagnosed in April 2015 with advanced stage non-small cell adenocarcinoma lung cancer. She moved back to Ottawa to be near family after a doctor gave her a year to live. But she vowed to fight the disease, to enjoy life with her new son, Jack, and her husband, Dax, an RCMP officer and former standout Ottawa Gee-Gees basketball star. That her fight ended Saturday morning in hospital in Ottawa has devastated her friends and family and thousands of followers who found support and encouragement on her ‘From Lizzie’s Lungs’ health blog and Facebook page. Lung cancer survivor-advocate Kris Patrick-Wolf chose Salem Health Cancer Institute as her beneficiary of the funds that she raised during Team Draft's 2017 Lung Cancer Survivors Super Bowl Challenge. Four years ago, Kris Patrick-Wolf was a 43-year-old mother of two young boys living in Woodburn. She was working as a Psychiatric Consultation Liason at Salem Hospital, a job she had held for 13 years.<more>

• 2017 Super Bowl Challenge to Raise Lung Cancer Awareness and Research Dollars ATLANTA, GA. The winners for Team Draft’s Third Annual Lung Cancer Survivors Super Bowl Challenge were announced on January 2, 2017 and the fundraising ends on February 7, 2017. This unique fund raising challenge gives lung cancer survivors the opportunity to raise funds for public awareness and cutting-edge research that is giving new hope to those battling this often misunderstood disease. The top four fundraisers were awarded trips to Super Bowl LI, the NFL Pro-Bowl, the Taste of the NFL and the NFC Championship. The survivors have an opportunity to share their powerful stories with key individuals with influence from across the country.<more>

• Lung Cancer Ordeal Gives Atlanta Chef New Lease on Life Just hours before he and his family were about to celebrate another Thanksgiving, Barash’s pulmonologist called. Tests showed a tumor the size of an orange on the lower end of his left lung might be cancer. Barash hung up the phone. He hadn’t smoked since his son was born nine years ago. He’d gotten annual checkups, including lung X-rays. He was always told they looked good, as clear as a summer’s day. He remembered the sod he’d just planted in his yard. I’m not going to even see my grass turn green, he said to no one in particular.<more>
