Survivor at the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Classic: UGA vs.UNC
September 03, 2016
Atlanta, GA. Lung cancer survivor-advocate Patty Watkins represented Team Draft at the Chick-fil-a Kickoff Classic. Patty and her husband, Kent, watched the University of Georgia Bulldogs defeat the University of North Carolina in a closely contested game.
"I have stage 4 lung cancer and I will be rappelling down Buckhead Tower with Team LIvestrong next Saturday! I've been fighting lung cancer for 2.5 years...and I'm still kicking. I live in Roswell. Married mom of 2 grown children. Hoping to rock grandchildren one day...Working out hard to be strong and fit everyday." ~ Patty
Team Draft's goals are to create a unique experience for participating survivors and to raise awareness on a local, national, and international level by using each game and each survivor’s story to weave a broader narrative about the state of cancer and the hope that now exists for those battling the disease.
During the game, Patty and Kent, were able to meet 10 year lung cancer survivor-advocate and diehard UNC Tarheels fan, Tomma Hargraves.
"One of the many inspiring highlights of day was meeting Tomma. I stared in the face of hope. Powerful."
Special thanks to PrimeSport, Emory Winship Cancer Institute, Livestrong and all of our Team Draft supporters for helping make this event possible.
